“My son came home excited to share his experiences every day and couldn’t wait to go back the next day!” — parent
This is an excellent introduction to the Merrimack River and a boat-based summer program. We’ll spend each morning exploring the science behind our Merrimack River estuary, and then head out onto the water to get our hands wet and explore the river’s ecosystems first-hand. We’ll spend a good amount of time each day on the river aboard the Yankee Clipper, excellent for exploring the Merrimack River and Great Marsh.
Again for summer 2013, we will also offer two weeks of an all-day version, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This week-long program will balance boat time with explorations ashore at a more leisurely pace.
The week’s activities will include:
- Exploring the biodiversity of a sandy beach, rocky beach, island and salt marsh
- Collecting CRABS!
- Nature awareness
- …and staying cool and having fun!
Summer 2013 session dates are selected in order to dodge the greenheads and catch the best tides.
Sandpipers gather Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Green Crabs gather Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m..
Summer 2013 Dates (Ages 7-10)
Sandpipers (8:30-noon) $295 (five days on the water)
Green Crabs (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) $350 (four days on the water, Friday on land)

This summer we will continue a new programs onshore at our new location in Newbury, which we are calling “Four Rock,” so named long ago by early settlers.
Red Fox is a program for ages 8 to 10 and run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the weeks of July 29-August 2 & August 19-23, and costs $250.
We’ll spend the week exploring the forest and fields, swamps and saltmarshes as we connect with the amazing biodiversity of a maritime forest. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to join us.
