Positions

Volunteers

We are currently looking for volunteers to staff our waterfront ocean education center. A minimum of 6 hours per month is requested. Duties include greeting visitors, light administrative tasks, outreach, and occasionally assisting with classes ashore or afloat. A love of nature, kids and the sea is required; training will be provided. Please contact us for details!

Counselors-in-Training

Each summer, we offer a limited number of opportunities to teens who are interested in learning about working onboard the Erica Lee. Kids must be at least 14 years old and have participated in BOAT CAMP Inc. programs for a minimum of three years. Due to the high number of inquiries we receive, we regret that we cannot accommodate all requests. CIT positions are typically for one to two weeks, and do not guarantee a permanent junior crew position on board.

Interested kids should submit a letter of interest to us by March 30, 2011. Please include your marine interests, what you liked most about participating in BOAT CAMP programs, and how a CIT position at BOAT CAMP Inc. would benefit you.

Marine Environmental Educators

We are expanding and looking to add to our crew.

Our Environmental Educators implement camp programs together with—and under the supervision of—the Program Directors. Primary responsibilities include daily execution of spring and summer programs. Field lessons ashore and afloat include relevant explorations of marine ecology, forest ecology, salt marsh and coastal ecosystems, marine biology, and nature awareness. This work includes direct supervision and safe keeping of children enrolled in our programs, and positive, informal mentorship of our junior program staff. Secondary responsibilities include the care and cleaning of our classroom and equipment and active participation in weekly program development meetings. We look for caring, compassionate people who have an environmental ethic and want to make a positive difference in the world.  It is essential to have a love for both the natural world and children.

Hours, Salary & Schedule This position pays $10-12 per hour. This is a full time seasonal position. 35-40 hours per week, May 31, 2011 through August 26, 2011. This position does not include benefits.
