Overview

The Merrimack River and nearby Plum Island are very important to us. In 2009, we adopted the northern stretch of Plum Island that borders the river entrance. Every month, weather permitting, we host beach cleanups. Also, as part of our education programs, we always keep and eye on the environment around us, from the water quality to fisheries data and tagging to marine debris. Our beach cleanups are a great way to get involved–volunteers are always welcome! We believe it takes just a small amount of effort to make a big difference!

In addition, BOAT CAMP Inc. and its instructors are active in many ocean research, marine and environmental education organizations, including the following:

  • New England Ocean Science Education Collaborative
  • Northeast Science Center Collaborative
  • Gulf of Maine Marine Education Association
  • National Marine Education Association
  • Society For Marine Mammology
  • North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium, Education Committee
  • Massachusetts Environmental Education Society
  • North American Association for Environmental Education
  • Orion Grassroots Network
