River Runners Program
Join us for an exploration of how water moves along our Merrimack River!
We’ll spend our mornings ashore exploring the concept of water movement as we play and explore along the Newburyport waterfront. This is a great age to begin learning where water comes from (water cycle), where the Merrimack River comes from (watershed), where it comes and goes each day (tides and currents), and who lives along the river.
We’ll take nature-detective walks along the waterfront, enjoy some outside active play, build a watershed, play with a stream table, create a nature journal, and explore the animals inside our saltwater touch tank. On Friday morning, we will enjoy a tour of the river aboard the Erica Lee, Yankee Clipper or Joppa Flats, tide and weather dependent.
Summer program runs Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon and costs $135 per week (includes fee for one morning on the boat).
